Apricorn Aegis Portable Hard Drive
Mobile Devices

A portable USB flash drive is one of those tools that is nearly essential to be able to carry your documents and files with you.  While USB flash drives have no moving parts, they are very limited in capacity.  They come in sizes as large as 1GB, 4GB, and I know it's possible there may even be an 8GB on the market somewhere.  Unfortunately, some people would like to be able to carry more files or larger files such as their music collection, videos, or even backup images of their computer.  In that case, it is practical to consider a portable external hard drive.  I will be taking a look at Apricorn's latest Aegis portable external hard drive.

Many of the speaker reviews for this site have been multimedia speakers meant for a desktop computer.  This time, we're going to be looking at a different class of speakers which are meant for a slightly different purpose.  The Audioengine 5 is a speaker system meant for listening to music from an iPod music player.  In this review, we will examine how well the speakers accommodate the use of the iPod with these speakers.  And of course, we will examine the most basic concept in a speaker review...how well they sound.

Ever since the U3 platform came out I have been interested in putting it to the test.
In brief, a U3 USB stick will allow you to take applications with you so that you can access your most important documents
and e-mail from someone else's computer without leaving a trace.
The SanDisk Cruzer Titanium U3 USB flash drive is arguably the best one on the market and we'll show you why.
We will also talk about U3 applications.

Pocket Informant Calendar Announced

If ever there was a smart move by the folks at WebIS it's here: they are (finally) bringing out a simplified version of the renowned PocketInformant PIM.
As you know PI is one of the best apps for a PocketPC owner to install and mine has done its faithful duty for many years (and upgrades).
For the first time ever, I will be happy to "downgrade" -- getting fewer features -- for greater easy of use and simplicity.
Make no mistake: this application is a powerful tool for all mobile devices with a touchscreen and most likely it's all you ever need in a Calendar tool.
We'll have a review on this one shortly (once I can schedule it in, of course...)

See the Press Release below.

Kingston 133X Compact Flash Memory Card

Cameras are rapidly increasing in the number of Megapixels these days.  In fact, we have just started seeing compact consumer cameras capable of taking pictures of up to 10 Megapixels!  Whether those cameras take quality pictures is another story to tell.  In general, with an increasing Megapixel count, that means you're working with larger pictures.  And with larger pictures, that's definitely going to mean larger file sizes.  The moment you press that snapshot button, the camera needs to store that large 10 Megabyte file (just an example) as quickly as possible into its memory.  This example leads us into the product we will be taking a look at: the Kingston 133X Compact Flash (CF) memory card.
